It doesn't seem to matter where our guests go to fish- they are all coming back with full fish boxes and are building lots of memories. The Breton islands and sound have been doing well - the islands have changed a lot so you have to be careful, but still plenty of specks and reds. All the Breton sound close in rigs seem to do well and the Black tank has disappeared but the barge is still there. The river has been low all summer and is a real pretty green color- all the passes are producing fish, just look for your cuts with water moving out of the marsh. Tiger pass had lost all the channel markers but they are all back in place and you can get out just fine. And if fishing to the East side you need to be careful at the end of Octave, as there is a large underwater obstruction of some kind that remains unmarked. I hit it early in June and although just at an idle did a lot of damage to the motor including bending the shaft. Went back but was unable to locate it but I know it is there.
It is hard to believe it has been a year since Katrina came ashore Aug 29,2005 and caused so much destruction. The initial 6 months afterwards we were having trouble trying to figure out what we could do. Our first view of the Cabins was Sept 2 when we did a fly over of the area in a small aircraft and all we could see was the roof tops of the cabins and a badly damaged residence and everything under water. And it stayed under water for the next 30 days or so until it was pumped out. Being 10 feet underwater for 30 days we initially thought we would have to demolish everything and start over. It was not until we got in to see the area Oct 8,2005 that we determined that we might be able to renovate at least some of the buildings. I am including the 9/2 fly over picture and one from our initial on site cleanup crew include my sons PJ and Matt and Friend of the family Adam watts. Talk about building some memories.
